Item #29130

Original era manufacture. This is a very nice example of a classic Civil War era M1849 Colt Pocket,  .31 caliber, 5 shot. Matching serial numbers except for the wedge, 96930, which puts this in the last quarter of 1854 for production. Nice detail remains on the cylinder, it indexes properly with nice rifling in the barrel. Lots of silver finish remains on the trigger guard and backstrap with a period engraved name of G.W.Bunting on the butt. I ran this name through the Civil War data research site and found a Union soldier with that name from Ohio and several Confederates from Virginia. So who knows, but the name at least gives a starting point for research. Lots of original varnish on the grips, no issues beyond normal age and wear for its 160 year existance.
