Original era manufacture. Full length black silk ribbon with gold wire embroidery. SMS Schleswig-Holstein was a pre-dreadnaught class of battleship commissioned into the German Navy in 1905. During WWI she fought in the Battle of Jutland where she was struck by a shell but suffered minor damage. At wars end she was one of the few ships allowed to Germany after the Versailles Treaty, where she served as a cadet training ship. In late August 1939 Schleswig-Holstein was moored in the port of Danzig, where on the morning of September 1 1939, she fired on Polish positions and is considered to have fired the first shots of WWII. She became a target ship for the Soviet Navy after the end of WWII.
