$185.00

Austrian M1869 Cavalry Officers Sword & Knot (11 photos)
$450.00
|
Original era manufacture. Sound example of a pattern adopted in 1869 and was regulation for Cavalry Officers until 1875. Plain polished steel blade with a pierced basket guard showing an elaborate design. The true prize to the weapon is its original knot. It shows normal age but is very sound. Likely cause is that the sword has resided in a very old collection and has not suffered "shop wear" from handling and travel. Honest old sword showing normal service wear.

US Civil War M1860 Cavalry Sabre, Ames 1861, Battle Damaged Scabbard (6 photos)
$675.00
|
Original era manufacture. Complete example of the classic US Cavalry saber of the Civil War-Spanish American War. Ames manufacture which is dated on the ricasso 1861. The blade is bright with scattered spots of graying from age, no corrosion, and there are a few (no more than two) nail-catchers in the cutting edge. Original buff leather bumper at the base of the blade, with a full original leather wrap and twisted wire grip. The brass guard is sound and not distorted and presents a mellow brass patina. The steel scabbard has darkened from age and the leading edge has numerous dents from service use including one tear in the steel about two thirds down its length. This keeps the blade from being drawn easily, but it will close when some light effort is applied. This sword has been in the same collection since 1940, and was found in the great state of Massachusetts.

Japanese WWII Army Officers Katana, Signed Tang (8 photos)
$1095.00
|
Original era manufacture. Regulation Army sword with an olive painted metal scabbard with darkened brass metal fittings and gilded highlights. The pommel loop is intact as is the original handle wrapping. When we removed the retaining peg we found that a previous owner had used a common lead pencil for the purpose, that was destroyed in the removal process so a substitute will have to be found. The tang is clearly marked on one side with numerous characters and what we believe to be a Showa proof. The blade is clean with a visible temper line, one side more so than the other but it appears that someone used some steel wool to give it a wipe at some point. No buffing or polishing, just some tiny scratches. The point is quite sharp and the blade looks clean overall. Two small nail-catcher chips in the cutting edge near the tip. Honest original sword from the Pacific War.

US M1832 Foot Artillery Sword, Massachusetts Issue, Ames 1839 (9 photos)
$795.00
|
Original era manufacture. A very clean example of a weapon designed after the French model. Overall it is in excellent condition, with the exception of the scabbard leather just above the tip, it has broken away but perhaps could be repaired. Nearly all of the original gilding remains on the brass fittings, and the blade has a high level of polish. Stamped onto the guard and scabbard tip are the letters MS, Massachusetts State, and on the reverse of the guard, 94 K. There are three nail-catcher nicks in the cutting edge of the sword, clear makers marks & date may be seen on the ricasso, along with the inspectors initials of WS. This particular weapon was obtained by a gentleman who graduated from military school in 1940. It was a present from his paternal grandmother who resided in Pittsfield Mass. The family name is Shaw, and they count as a relative, Colonel Robert Gould Shaw of the 54th Mass Inf'y, killed at Fort Wagner in 1863.

German WWI Artillery Officers Lionhead Sword & Knot (9 photos)

Original era manufacture. Chromed steel blade which measures 33 inches in length, very clean with only a few tiny areas of age spotting. Alloy pommel and guard with traces of the original gilding remaining. Undamaged black plastic grip with triple wire binding. The steel scabbard is dent free with a steel patina overall, little of the black painted finish remains. Attached to the guard is a very pliable Prussian officers quality leather & wire sword knot. It shows some surface dryness to the edges but is otherwise sound.

US Civil War NCO Sword, Emerson & Silver 1863 (5 photos)
$485.00
|
Original era manufacture. US M1840 NCO sword made by the firm of Emerson & Silver, Trenton NJ in 1863. A clean example overall with pleasing patina to the brass fittings on the hilt and steel scabbard. The 32 inch blade shows a mellow steel patina, is straight and true and is unsharpened. The brass guard is slightly bent from use but not damaged and the screw which holds the brass drag in place is missing, although the drag itself is secure to the scabbard tip. A sound sword, with an 1863 manufacture date, which likely saw service during the Civil War.

German WWII Luftwaffe Officers Sword, SMF, Aluminum Fittings (8 photos)
$1195.00
|
Original era manufacture. Just purchased this from a friend of ours who in turn purchased it from the Veteran who brought it home. The Vet told our friend that he picked it up off of a pile of German edged weapons in a recently captured German town. A very typical story as the Germans were required to turn in all weapons to the Allies. It is a very clean example with a bright, polished steel blade and bright aluminum fittings. SMF maker marked and Luftwaffe proofed on the ricasso. The only extremely minor flaws in this otherwise excellent example are that one of the tiny screws is missing from the scabbard throat and that little of the original gilding remains on the pommel and guard swastikas. That's it, no damage to the scabbard leather and no nicks in the blade edge. A real beauty otherwise and complete with its blue leather hanger.

German Pre WWI Dress Faschinenmesser, Etched Blade, Unit Marked (6 photos)
$225.00
|
Original era manufacture. Circa 1880 dress sidearm made in the shape similar to the 1871 bayonet. As the guard lacks a muzzle ring, we feel the weapon to be the dress version of the earlier shorts sword worn by most German troops prior to the Franco Prussian War. This one features an etched blade with the motto, Deutschland Uber Alles in der welt, on one side with laurel leaves on the other. Brass mounted leather scabbard and hilt. The scabbard leather is dry but it fits the blade all the way up to the guard. Unit marked on the crossguard 58.A.2.49. The blade shows scattered light pitting with most of that present on the side without the motto. The blade has a slight bend to it above the guard but it is a bit hard to notice. Usually these sidearms are rather ho-hum but this one has an interesting motto and it is unit marked.

German Pre WWI M1889 Cavalry Sword, 14th Ulan Rgt, Named (6 photos)
$425.00
|
Original era manufacture. Silver mounted 1889 pattern sword which is named on the scabbard throat to F.Diemann. Drawing the blade from the scabbard we see a triple engraved surface with blue panels on one side and battle honors of the Napoleonic Wars on the other. There are some plating issues on the scabbard and blade tip but nothing really serious, there is a minor dent in the scabbard towards the drag. The guard is slightly distorted but the folding clamshell moves up and down easily, there is a crack in the hard rubber grip below the pommel cap and a small piece is missing there as well. The 2nd Hanoverian Ulan Regiment Nr.14 was raised in 1805 and was garrisoned at St.Avold. A first class regiment of the Imperial Army.

US Civil War M1840 Light Artillery Saber, Ames 1861 (6 photos)
$995.00
|
Original era manufacture. French pattern sword adopted in 1840 and to our knowledge was the only sword issued to the US mounted Artillery after that date. Ames Mfg and dated 1861 on the ricasso. The polished steel blade is basically bright with areas of age darkening but no corrosion. The leather bumper remains at the base of the blade and all of the leather grip wrap and brass wire binding are in place. The brass guard and pommel show a very dark orange-brown patina telling us that it has not been cleaned or polished in many years. Dent free steel scabbard with a pleasing dark plum patina. A sound example of a handsome edged weapon.

US M1872 Cavalry Officers Presentation Sword, Ames Mfg (10 photos)
$1495.00
|
Original era manufacture. Very nice quality sword by the famous Ames sword making firm. The bright chromed steel blade is 34 inches in length and features engraved panels on each side. The obverse panel bears the following inscription, MAJOR JOHN CASSELS, 11TH PENNSYLVANIA CAVALRY, the reverse displays American flags and US. The brass mounted steel scabbard is dent free and presents a light gray steel patina. The brass guard is decorated with laurel leaves and a US shield on the pommel cap. Sound sharkskin grip and wire wrapping. We've attempted some basic research on John Cassels and evidently he served during the Civil War with the 11th Pennsylvania, one website credits him with the capture of the Confederate Spy, Belle Boyd. Just a beautiful sword showing light wear and age and with terrific reseach potential.

German WWII Issue Enlisted Mounted Troops Sword, Eickhorn Mft, Matching (7 photos)
$375.00
|
Original era manufacture. Issue sword with serial numbers and waffenamts just like a bayonet. 32 inch polished steel blade shows spots of graying but is basically bright and is unsharpened with the Eickhorn trademark behind the right langet. Four waffemamt proofs can be found on the gilded brass guard along with the serial number 13642 and the letters CE/G which perhaps indicate Carl Eickhorn. The grip is wrapped in black plastic with double strand wire binding. The leather finger loop is present but has broken on one side. A black painted steel scabbard retains most of its finish, has only one shallow dent and is serial numbered 13642 and waffenamt proofed just below the throat. We enjoy the chance to offer these scarce ordnance swords on our site. They're rather plain looking but difficult to find and were issue for mounted units prior to the beginning of WWII.

US Civil War Artillery Officers Sword, French Mfg, Horstmann Marked (11 photos)
$995.00
|
Original era manufacture. Known as the M1840 Artillery Sword in the United States and the M1829 in France from whom we adopted the pattern. Gilded brass guard and pommel with a black leather wrapped grip and single strand brass wire binding. The triple etched blade displays a floral design with stands of arms on both sides of the blade and a panel of laurel leaves along the spine. The blade shows an overall gray steel patina with two or three very shallow nicks in the cutting edge. The gilded brass mounted leather scabbard is intact but shows a repair to the leather above the drag. Care must be taken when inserting the blade into the scabbard. Marked Horstmann New York on the base of the ricasso. The guard is a bit loose and the leather bumper is missing from the base of the blade.

German WWII Issue Enlisted Mounted Troops Sword, Alcoso Mfg (6 photos)
$295.00
|
Original era manufacture. Army issue sword with waffenamt proofs, as carried by enlisted troops in horse drawn or mounted units. The polished steel blade measures 28 inches in length while the correct pattern, but non-serial numbered blue steel scabbard measures 33 inches and may be a period replacement. The blade fits the scabbard well and draws easily. Waffenamt proofs are stamped into the brass guard and blade spine in several places with the serial number of 439a and the letters AC/G which perhaps stand for Alcoso. Undamaged black plastic grips with double strand wire wrapping. There was once a black leather finger loop inside the guard but that is no longer present. The blade is clean but does show areas of graying and old cleaned corrosion. The Alcoso trademark is located behind the right langet.

$395.00
|
Origianal era manufacture. Polished steel 21 inch blade with a fuller on one side. Two line kanji inscription on one side of the ricasso which reads Tokyo Artillery Arsenal and Meiji 26 (1893). The blade is very clean, nick free and unsharpened. Just a bit dark towards the tip. The pommel, guard and scabbard show a black lacquer paint finish applied after the weapons manufacture. This finish perhaps could be removed it one used some care and patience. Very clean blade with nice wood grips.

US Civil War 1860 Non-Regulation Infantry Officers Sword (7 photos)
$895.00
|
Original era manufacture. German made sword with a polished steel blade with a darkened steel guard and pommel. The grip is of fishskin with twisted wire binding. Matching color steel scabbard with some minor scattered surface dents. The blade is very clean for its age and displays the American eagle and US on its surface. The cutting edge is relatively nick free with only some scattered surface corrosion in evidence. This pattern sword saw extensive use by Federal Infantry officers during the war and was a strong, servicable weapon. Our example is complete and presents a very dark appearance to the metal surfaces but has withstood the ravages of the past 150 years quite well.

Zulu Warrior, 19th Century Weapon Set (2 photos)
$895.00
|
What we offer here is a set of three basic weapons as used by a Zulu Infantryman during the 19th Century. This set was purchased at auction in the UK during the 1990's by a man who had a great interest in the Zulu Wars in South Africa. The set consists of a 1.Knobkerrie or War Club, made of strong wood with a 24 inch shaft and a 4 inch diameter circular head. 2. A short stabbing spear known as an Assegai, 53 inches in length overall, with a 16 inch double sided blade. The blade tang is tightly bound with twine to keep it secure in the shaft. The wooden shaft has been drilled through, having been mounted in a display at some point. The third and final weapon is a throwing spear. It measures 54 inches in length, with a 6 inch double side blade which shows evidence of handforging. The tang is tightly wrapped with braided wire where it is attached to the throwing shaft. For those of us who have seen the movies "Zulu" or "Zulu Dawn", or have read the book "The Washing of the Spears", we cannot ignore the bravery of the Zulu warriers depicted there. A great looking vintage set which will display quite nicely in your man-cave.
