 31 pictures in this complete album. 6x5 inches with one picture to a page. It is dedicated to Sophia from a Reverand. Lots of Massachusettes notables fill this album. Most pictures have a name written beneath the image.One picture is of a Boston Cadet and there is also a gem sized tintype of him. The album has a strong spine and has two latches to close, one is incomplete. There are no empty pages.

US WWII Submarine Photo Album & Insignia, USS Sea Poacher, SS-406

 Original era manufacture. This is a great little grouping which we purchased at the Pomona Military Show last May. It consists of a WWII Navy patriotic photo album which contains 51 bw photos, plus menus, launching cards, souvenir photos and more from a sailor who served aboard the USS Sea Poacher, SS-406, during WWII. Most of the images are identified and include a photo of the boat slipping into the waves for the first time. The USS Sea Poacher was a Balao class submarine and was launched at New London Ct in May of 1944. She participated in four war patrols sinking a Japanese Trawler and several fishing boats on her third cruise. During the engagement of the fishing boats her 20mm gun exploded seriously wounding three of her crew. After the end of WWII our sailor remained in the Navy and served aboard other submarines, USS Amberjack, USS Toro, USS Threadfin. Several photo Christmas cards and press photos of those boats are included. Included with the album are our sailors enlisted Dolphins, sterling marked and made by Vanguard. Perhaps one of the most interesting items with the lot is the miniature submarine launch pin. It measures three inchs in length and similar examples may be seen in wear by other members of the Sea Poacher crew in some of the snapshots. Overall the photographic content of the album is excellent with photos taken onboard the Sea Poacher at sea and photos of the crew on Guam and Midway islands during the War.

 Original era manufacture. Over 50 original BW photos, most of which measure 5x7 inches, with the majority being identified as to content. Several highlights include Amelia Earhart, several views of the Pan Am Clipper, Pat Obrien during the filming of Devil Dogs of the Air, early aviation including the Graf Zeppelin and oddly three photos of a Japanese vessel which visited Hawaii in the 1930's. The album itself is pretty beat but the photo content is great.

 Original era album. 57 bw photos of a trip taken to the Norwegian Fjords in 1937. The ship was the Monte Olivia which was launched in 1924, served as a garrison ship for the Kreigsmarine from 1940-1945, and is thought to have transported refugees from the East to Germany before being bombed by the USAAF and burned out. Raised and scrapped 1946-1948. Many of the photographs were taken on board the ship during this cruise and an original baggage tag is mounted inside the cover.

Mostly snapshots of his buddies and general views of Korea & Japan. He must of seen combat at some point as his sterling CIB is mounted into the rear cover of the album.
