German WWII Lufwaffe Officer Visor Hat, Vet Bringback (5 photos)
$425.00
|
Original era manufacture. We recently purchased a small grouping of WWII German souvenirs sent home from Europe by a soldier who served as a US 3rd Army Jeep driver. The lucky recipient was his younger brother who cherished them and stored them away for many years before selling them to us. Later war quality hat of a rough texture, dark LW blue wool. Simple fiber visor with an unbound edge, aluminum fittings and insignia as shown. At some point in its life the eagle lost its swastika and the side buttons went AWOL, now held in place by thread. The sweatband is in poor condition, there is wear to the silver piping, but amazingly, the sweatshield is not damaged. This is a sound hat for restoration, and shows the slings and arrows of time and the efforts of a young boy when the hat was worn as a plaything.

Overall a very clean example which holds its shaple quite well, one small moth nip on the top, it doesn't break the surface.

German WWII Army Infantry Visor Hat (4 photos)
$575.00
|
Original era manufacture. Nice early manufacture, private purchase, officers quality hat of doeskin wool with the early style lighter green band. Original aluminum wreath and cockade, very nice visor and chinstrap. Complete green silk lining with its sweat shield in place. At the time of our purchase the hat had a zinc political eagle attached to the top front. We recently purchased a small collection and in there was the correct, early style eagle which we have placed on the hat. The only damage to report is that the sweat shield is cracked on one side. No moth damage, the hat is not crushed or misshapen, all stitching is tight, just a very nice example overall.

German WWII Army Artillery EM Visor Hat, Unusual Maker (6 photos)
$435.00
|
Original era manufacture. Regulation pattern hat as worn by the enlisted ranks in the Artillery branch of the German Army. The most unique aspect of this hat is the original makers logo on the sweatshield, TRIUMPH (like the British motorcycle company) and above that a Masonic emblem. Freemasonry was looked down upon during the Nazi era and its members were persecuted and some killed, yet this hat is obviously of the era and bears the Free Mason insignia prominently. The hat is complete asa shown but suffers from poor storage over the years. It shows some scattered mothing to the piping and surface tracking to the body but no major holes or bites. It is out of shape from being stored in a foot locker for many years. In fact, a friend of ours purchased this hat (along with two SS NCO swords) from a 92 year old, US Army 45th Division veteran. As we said the hat was stored in a foot locker for many years and the stitching of the visor ends have come loose. The hat needs some TLC but what an interesting makers label.

German WWII Kriegsmarine EM Coastal Artillery O/S Cap (5 photos)
$325.00
|
Original era manufacture. Feldgrau wool overseas cap with a gray cotton lining. A faint makers stamp may be seen there which gives a size of 56 and a year date of 1941. The cap shows honest service use with sweatstains around the base and wear to the handsewn insignia. Sound, honest example.

German WWII Luftwaffe Summer Flying Helmet & General Purpose Goggles (7 photos)
$375.00
|
Original era manufacture. Tan cotton helmet with leather earphone covers, imitation silk lining with lambs wool covered earphones. The original phone plug is intact but the cord shows some minor cover loss near the helmet body and plug. Included with the helmet are a set of Wehrmacht, aviator style general purpose goggles. The goggles are basically sound but the small screw head which keeps the two sections together is missing and the ends are secured with a small piece of wire. Nice looking set with this pattern helmet being less commonly encountered than the all leather pattern.

Japanese WWII Army EM Late War Wool Field Cap (3 photos)
$275.00
|
Original era manufacture. Dark olive wool body with an original sewn, pith helmet style, yellow cap star. Chin strap and sweatband are made from a green rubberized material, possibly from left over gas protection suits. There is a size marking character on a piece of burlap sewn inside the front of the cap. This pattern of hat was made without an inner lining, possibly for the tropics (that rubber sweatband must have been miserable)as the small cloth loops for the neck flap tabs are on the outside of the cap body. No moth damage or wear beyond storage wear.

 |
US WWI Doughboy Veterans Hat (8 photos)
$45.00
|
Original era manufacture. 1920's style gray felt Fedora which has been extensively, and rather cleverly modified by a former member of the AEF. Around the underside of the brim he has written his enlistment city & date, along with many other places and dates on his trip to France in 1918. He cut out portions of the felt to spell out US, Co.A and others. Perhaps done for parades and reunions, or maybe as a member of the Bonus Army in 1932. Whatever the purpose it certainly is an unusual hat.
