British Pre WWII Royal Warwickshire Officers Dress Hat (5 photos)
$175.00
|
Original era manufacture. Fine quality hat of doeskin wool with a dark blue top, red wool piping & cap band, patent leather chinstrap and visor. Attached to the front of the cap is a very nice, officers quality, silver regimental badge with a gilt crown & chain around the antelopes neck. The lining is complete and bears the trade name of Flights Ltd. The leather sweatband is a bit of a mystery as the leather itself is soft and pliable but the rear half was deliberately cut away, perhaps to fit a larger head. The cap body is slightly misshapen but displays well on a head form. No moth issues to report, just two stains from the patent leather above the visor. This regiment was founded in 1688 and was granted the title Royal Warwickshire Regt in 1832. During its service with the Royal Army it has served honorably throughout its many campaigns.
