US WWII Era, US Navy Officers Dress Sword, Named

Item #37404 : Original era manufacture. Standard US Navy officers sword with a double etched blade, and the owners name, R.E.DODSON appearing on one side. The blade measures 31 inches in length, with a dark finish from age and cleaned surface corrosion, Bright brass guard and pommel, with fish skin wrapped grip which is bound with triple strand wire.Brass mounted black leather bodied scabbard which has a break in the body about 8 inches up from the drag. Engraved on the scabbard throat is the owners initials in old English lettering, R.E.D.A sound old sword displaying typical age and wear, with the owners name providing a good basis for research.
