Swords
French Early 19th Century Officers Sword, Gilt & Blue Panel

Item #31829 : Original period manufacture. Frankly I haven't been too successful in identifying this neat old sword, so my best guess is French cavalry circa 1820-1840. The curved steel blade measures 29 inches in length, with traces of blue panels with gilt decoration about 10 inchs in length on each side. On the obverse ricasso is a riband with the letters K S in a cursive script. The blade is quite sharp with that operation done a long time ago. Mellow brass two branch guard, backstrap and pommel with laurel leaf decortion. Original leather wrapped grip which shows wear to its surface with the cord wrapping exposed in spots, single strand twisted wire binding. Sheet steel scabbard with what looks to be a zinc wash over its surface, dual brass suspension rings.

Price: $475.00
