Swiss Mid-19th Century Infantry, or Jager Shako

Original era manufacture. A French inspired shako, with a cardboard body covered with a black wool covering, with a black leather top and lower band. Molded fiber visor with a green underside. The leather lining is intact, as is the attached chinstrap.The front of the shako displays a black/white painted metal cockade held in place with modern wire, and below, a pair of crossed Schutzen style percussion rifles in brass. Separate brass emblems of 6R are attached to the leather band.There is an opening at the top front edge of the shako for a pom-pom or field badge, now missing. The shako is in sound condition displaying normal age and wear with no issues.
