Japanese WWII Army Pith Helmet, Calcutta Mfg

This item is listed for historical interest only. It was listed on our site previously but has been sold and is no longer available for purchase.
Sold for: $175.00
Item #38629

Original era manufacture. Cork bodied helmet which is covered in a olive green heavy cotton fabric, with a brass star at front.

There is a stain across the front visor from where a leather chinstrap had been in place for many years, the strap is now missing.

The interior of the helmet displays an imitation leather sweatband, quilted yellow cotton lining, and a very clear Calcutta India makers name.

Large quantities of captured British military equipment were used by the Japanese after the fall of Hong Kong and Singapore.

The  helmet has a good look to it, the crown is not crushed or broken, with some minor moth damage to the underside of the helmet rim covering.
