Original era manufacture. Brass shell casing with a March (MRZ) 1917 marked headstamp. Matching diameter steel projectile with copper driving bands and brass fuze collar. This was part of a large trench art collection we recently purchased, and it appears that this projectile and casing were intended to be transformed into a lamp. The base of the projectile has beendrilledthrough, and the odd looking fuze is held in place by a long bolt with washer and nut. No visible markings on the projectile. Light surface corrosion, but no real damage.
