The interior of the tunic is well marked, displaying a very early 1936 issue date and unit markings for two Flak units. The exterior of the tunic is very clean, showing only a few repaired snags, although someone has placed a badge through the pocket material instead of installing medal loops. Overall a very presentable tunic with excellent research potential through the unit markings. The KvK ribbon through the buttonhole is original, however we feel postwar installed.

$1195.00
|
Original era manufacture. Very fine identified A2 Flight Jacket & Crusher Cap worn by a CBI Hump Pilot during WWII, 1st Air Transport Squadron (Mobile). The jacket was made by J.A.Dubow Mfg Co.of Chicago and is a size 40. The zipper works fine, no missing teeth and the cuffs and waistband show minimal mothing and wear. The worst of the moth damage is shown which is near the edge of the waistband. The leather is supple, a bit dry to the touch, but no dry rot in evidence. On the left chest is his leather nametag, with Captains bars on each epaulette and a 20th AF patch on the left shoulder. Full, original brown cotton lining with no damage. The Crusher Cap is a Flight Weight brand, size 7 3/8 and shows the classic 50 mission crush favored by AAF pilots during WWII. The stitching is sound with the only exception being about a three inch spot in the front of the sweatband where it meets the visor. The small spot you see on the visor edge is a piece of packing paper which has adhered itself to the patent leather finish, easily removed. Included with the hat and jacket is the pilots photo and a copy of the orders for his Air Medal. Great set recently purchased from his estate.

Bulgarian WWII Army Infantry Officers Field Uniform (8 photos)
$395.00
|
Original era manufacture. Rough texture wool tunic, enlisted trousers, M43 style field cap and a leather Sam Browne belt & strap. The four pocket, German pattern tunic features Russian style shoulder rank for a Captain of Infantry, and German pattern collar tabs, quite a mix. Brown composition buttons featuring the crowned Bulgarian lion emblem. Issue wool trousers with red piping down the leg seam, issue stamps inside the waistband. The German style M43 cap is also of brown wool with a leather sweatband and issue stamps in the lining. Tunic size about a 38, cap size about a 54. Clean condition overall with the only moth damage restricted to the piping on the shoulderboards. A great set for display.Bulgaria was one of the smaller Allies of Nazi Germany during WWII, declaring war on the United States and Great Britain in 1941. During the conflict the city of Sofia was bombed by Allied aircraft. In addition Bulgaria supplied ground troops for service in Yugoslavia and Greece, and Flak units for air defense protection of the Reich. In August of 1944 with the approach of the Soviet Armies to the Bulgarian border, they left the Axis alliance and joined the Allies by declaring war on Germany. Much of their military equipment shows a distinct German influence in design, with much of it being manufactured and provided by Germany during the war.

Japanese Russo-Japanese War EM Infantry Uniform (16 photos)
$1995.00
|
Original era manufacture. Some of us have heard the term "Made of Unobtainium", used to describe an item or items as being difficult, or near imposible to find. If this wonderful set doesn't meet that criteria then it certainly comes close. The set consists of issue tunic and trousers, shako style enlisted hat with a removable white cotton cover, issue leather knapsack, issue enlisted cylindrical canteen, two paybooks, six period military motif sake cups, rice paper wood block print depicting a Sino-Japanese battle scene, Sino & Russo-Japanese War Campaign medals in their issue boxes, a very nice handpainted fan with an early Red Cross medal attached to it and a current Osprey publication dealing with the Russo-Japanese War 1904-1905. The tunic, trousers and hat all exhibit moth damage to some degree but the age and rarity of the items more than makes up for the mothing in our opinion. The tunic shows numerous issue stamps as do the trousers, the hat is unmarked and may be private purchase. The leather knapsack retains its shoulder and attaching straps and has an inner wooden frame which allows it to keep its shape. The leather canteen harness is sound but the leather is a bit dry with a broken strap on the harness. All of the other components are sound and show typical age and wear. The set is as we purchased it, we have neither added to or taken anything away from it. We purchased the set from a collector who has family in the antique business in Tokyo, one of whom purchased the set at a local antique auction in Japan. Great set, we'll likely never see another.
