US WWII Mk 1 USN Trench Art Knife (5 photos)
$145.00
|
Original era manufacture. Standard pattern USN marked Mk1 utility knife by Robeson. The original owner did a great job of tying a complicated leather knot over the pommel and above the guard on the stacked leather grip. Not satisifed with that he further decorated the issue sheath with two Japanese brass hat emblems, now nicely toned with age. It must have been a bitter day for him when using his prized knife for a pry tool, he snapped a chunk from the cutting edge. Likely done by an improvident friend who "borrowed" his knife for a moment. Lots of personality with this old knife.

The blade shows use and has been soldier sharpened but not abused. The scabbard is very sound showing normal use and has the lock catch at the throat. Scarce set, and much more difficult to find than the more common M1917 pattern.
