Ambrotype of Child with Bright Blue Hat

This is a 1/6 plate Ambrotype in a half case. The image has seals all around it and including the entire back. It appears to have two pieces of glass making it pretty deep. The little boy is standing next to a table resting his hand on top of a book and in his other hand he holds a bright blue hat. The shirt is very detailed with a lace collar and buttons all the way down to his waist and around the waist band too. Any marks that are seen appear to be on the glass only.

This is a 1/6 plate tintype in a full case separated at the binding. These two guys have something to be proud of. They display a stove, a box of Mother’s Oats and a brown bag tied with string between them. The man on the right is smoking a cigar and wears a special pin on his lapel. The other man is smoking too. You can see his watch fobe and his suspenders. Did they invent Mother’s Oats or the Stove?

This is a 1/4 plate tintype with mat, preserver and glass. the mat has a very nice flower design with one flower in each corner. This house has at least 3 fireplaces. There are 4 people in the front of the home. Trees, fence and yard all around.

This is a 1/6 plate Daguerreotype housed in a half case. The image still retains its original seals. Some tarnishing around the perimeter but does not detract from the image. The image is of an adorable boy standing next to a table covered with a tinted red and blue cloth. His military style kepi is sitting on top of the cloth. This boy has a very sincere look on his face. The photographer is Albert J Beals who was an active daguerreian in New York City, NY 1846 to 1854. This picture has a lot going for it, IDd photographer, blue and red tinting, original seals, Daguerreotype and nice subject which is very clear.

6 1/2 inches long and 2 3/4 inches across. The wooden frame has painted leaves with mother of pearl flowers. The frame is decorated on both sides, top and bottom. The reverse also has an embossed design with a silver piece across the back. It lookes like there was another plate at one time and it may have had stand affixed to the bottom. The picture inside is of a beautiful Geisha Girl holding a fan. Her kimono has a floral design. She holds a fan in one hand and the other rests on a bamboo divider. The glass is cracked across it but it has not damaged the image. This albumen image has been encased in this frame for a long time. Since it is sealed you would have to break it to get it open.

This man is seated with his hands clasped in front of him. He has an interesting hair style. He also has very strong features.

This image has never been taken apart. There are some small specs on the glass but not on the image itself.

This is a 1/6 plate Ambrotype in a full case with one hook in the center for closure. The case depicts two birds in a wreath and has an embossed red velvet pad.

The image is of a mother and son. The mother has bottle curls. The son sits in his own chair hanging on the each side.

The lock of hair has been sitting behind the imgage since the 1850s.

The Ambrotype has been blackened in the shape of the people.

Mr. Denny was a 25 year old manufacturer before he enlisted on 8/15/1862 as a Sergeant. On 9/19/1862 he mustered into "B" Co. MA 5th Infantry. On 12/11/1863 he was commissioned into "I" Co. MA 2nd Heavy Artillery.

He was promoted from Sergeant to 1st Lieut 8/14/1863 (As of Co. I 2nd MA HA) and to Capt 3/13/1865 by Brevet.

This is a 1/6 plate Ambrotype housed in a half case. It hasn't had a top glass piece in a while and the brass matt sticks to the image. You can take it off without any trouble. There are marks on the Ambrotype where it has been for a very long time.

The officer is an Infantry 1st Lt. wearing a 9 button regulation frock coat.

Company grade officer 2nd Lt. To Captain. He has Infantry insignia on his hat. No markings on the back at all. The image, as you can see from the picture, has a couple of scuffs but does not detract from the details or the quality. The top two corners have been cut but only slightly.
