Item #43309

Original era manufacture. Brass framed binoculars by Nagretti & Zambra, London. On the right side top frame are letters which look to be M.C., or perhaps M.G. On the bottom side of the frame is the professionally engraved name of W.H. Collinson, 6th Northumberland Fusiliers.

An accompanying sheet of folded paper displays the image of Lieutenant Collinson, and states his death in action as January 5th 1916.

The optics are fairly clear, slightly out of collimation, displaying normal age and wear, with an intact leather neck cord.

Brown leather case lined with maroon velvet, with another individuals name written in ink on the inside of the lid. The case is complete with its original leather shoulder strap.

The additional name inside the lid provides an excellent basis for further research, as it was a common practice for the personal effects of deceased officers to be auctioned off amongst his brothers for further use. This is very possibly the case here.
